On March 25 and 26, BGSU held its annual One Day, the university’s day of online giving.
My name is Sydney Gourley, and I had the opportunity to work with Mariana Jacoia on BG Falcon Media’s One Day promotions. We first met in early January when Karl Smith introduced us.
We both knew we had some hard but rewarding work ahead of us. My job was to capture still shots of BG Falcon Media’s wonderful executive team and assist Mariana. Mariana was tasked to create and edit five promotional videos along with a “Thank You” video.
Our processes were very similar as we both pre-planned exactly what we wanted executed.
Mariana said, “My planning process involved brainstorming, creating a mood-board, writing scripts and creating shot lists, reaching out to people who would be involved in the video, setting up a date and filming.”
She also mentioned, “I enjoyed meeting new people and the BG Falcon Media team. I felt that the videos were genuine and that the people involved were willing to make it happen.”
My process also included brainstorming, reaching out to members of the executive team to share what BG Falcon Media means to them, and scheduling a time to capture their still shots.
I enjoyed learning more about BG Falcon Media and all the spaces that students have access to at the Kuhlin Center. It was also very exciting to take still shots of the executive team in their element.
We both agreed that our favorite moment of the process was filming the “Thank You” video because it included everyone that makes BG Falcon Media the amazing organization that it is.
